Pay As You Please on Our Final Day!

Dublin Contemporary 2011, Ireland’s international art exhibition, went out with a bang on Monday, 31st October!
To celebrate the last day of the eight-week exhibition and thank all our supporters, we ran a one-day opportunity to name your own ticket price.
We wanted you to tell us what you would pay to visit Ireland’s international art exhibition and we hoped to get people thinking about the value they place on visual art. Don’t forget there were over 80 rooms full of art across the 3 floors of the main exhibition venue on Earlsfort Terrace.
Did you come along and ‘Pay As You Please’ on our final day?

Special Two for One Offer!

Due to the phenomenal response we decided to extend this unique and special offer for the duration of the exhibition!*
So that’s two adults for the price of one - €7.50 per adult ticket. Two families for the price of one, two three-day tickets for the price of one. This offer was available on all ticket types.

Art Impressions - Exploring Dublin Contemporary

Dublin Contemporary 2011 was delighted to partner with Art Impressions to offer visitors a unique way of engaging with the exhibition. This highly informative group tour began in the National Gallery of Ireland. Cathy Roche of Art Impressions drew on the gallery’s extensive collection to convey the essence of different art movements. This component of the tour was effectively a crash course in the history of art where visitors could gain an understanding and appreciation of how and why the different art movements developed as they did, creating a foundation to get maximum value from viewing contemporary art.

From there Cathy would escort you to Dublin Contemporary’s main hub on Earlsfort Terrace for a tour of the exhibition highlights. One could then interpret the art in the context of what was discovered in the earlier component of the tour at the National Gallery of Ireland.

Cathy’s tour was unique in that it contextualizes the exhibition in the history of art; viewers were better able to understand and appreciate the relevance and meaning of a variety of works. When art is explained in a simple way you can quickly become your own expert and better appreciate a whole variety of works. This tour offered enjoyable, informative art viewing at its very best.
